Phaser FPV Terms & Conditions

By buying goods from Phaser FPV you must tick and confirm you have read the below information, It is especially important that you read the Battery & Charging Safety information as we will not be held liable for injury or battery fires if you have not made proper lipo/charging precautions set out below.

  • Never start a brush-less motor in your hands or with props on while connected to a computer.
  • While starting up with propellers mounted, always care for the distance of yourself and other objects/people around you.
  • Never power up your ESC/speed controllers without a valid signal transmitter (receiver or FC) is connected.

Warranties & Replacements

Warranty for all products is as per manufacturers specifications, please refer to the specific manufacturer for detailed warranty information.

We will repair or replace items based on our study and informational from the manufacturer once it is returned to us. Items that have evidence of damage or misuse including crash damage, reverse polarity, incorrect installation or incorrect charging techniques will not be covered by warranty.

Once products have been modified and or soldered warranty is voided.

If the item is not faulty, or user is at fault we reserve the right to charge a service fee of $40 before your goods are returned.

  • Before soldering or mounting any flight controller, connect it to your PC and verify its correctly working and lights are flashing.
  • Please check continuity test on all components before applying any solder. Most factory's QC all components without soldering, check this video and you can do the same with a multi meter. 99% of issues arise from poor soldering or solder blobs, that customers have not seen that we pickup when its sent back to us under the microscope.
  • USB ports must be handled with care, breakage of USB ports are not covered under warranty. We recommend using a USB extension so you are not plugging in and out of the FC and instead the cord instead.
  • Incorrect soldering techniques will damage this board and void warranty. Please use the correct sized tip, temperature and technique. Temp controlled soldering irons such as the TS100 or TS80 are recommended.
  • Lifted pads are a result of incorrect soldering techniques or excess mechanical pressure and will not be covered under warranty.
  • Always use a smoke stopper before powering your build for the first time.
  • Any goods modified from how they were originally supplied will not be covered.

If your electronics purchased have been in several flights and all of a sudden have stopped working we cannot offer warranty due to too many variables such as:

  • Grass / ground could of been wet when you landed, components temporary shorted.
  • Any impurities (conductive) such as magnetic sand, carbon can be sucked into motors or components when taking off/landing from propeller turbulence and short components or damage winding.
  • Electronic components such as ESC or Flight Controllers are inherently delicate and are susceptible to failure from even the slightest of falls, mishandling, or simply flying at high G-force speeds or incorrect tuning. It's even possible to damage a GYRO from inertia alone.
  • Components can be destroyed by static charge. When handling such electronics, always make sure to be grounded

Some of these problems are compounded by poor soldering and assembling techniques. (too much heat, cold solder joints)

All of the above scenarios are possible and we have experience themselves.

Who covers freight charges for warranties and replacements?

DOA

If the item received has not been fairly used and is DOA (Dead of arrival) Phaser FPV will cover the costs of the return shipping and replacement.

Please note we only cover AU POST STANDARD rates. If you send it Express we will not cover the whole amount paid.

"Fair Use"

If the item has had fair use and given value to the customer then freight costs will be bourn by the customer. We state fair use as being used for more than 3-4 weeks but give some examples below. We will always be reasonable and if you think it should be classified as DOA instead of fair use please just let us know and we can review it.

Example 1 - Customer has purchased a RC Charger and it has been working for 2-3 months charging batteries each week. The charger then fails and does not charge. This example would be FAIR USE.

Example 2 - Customer has been flying their drone for 1-2 months each week and after a while the VTX or RX dies and it 100% that problem and it just randomly failed out of customers control. This example would be FAIR USE.

Example 3 - Customer has bought a soldering iron and has been using it for 1-2 months each week to build their drones. After 2 months of use the LED light becomes dim and the customer googles and finds many other customers with the same issue. This example would be DOA.

Example 4 - Customer has purchased a smart goggle battery case and has been using it for 1 week. After the 2-3rd week the LCD fails. This example would be DOA

Battery Warranties

All batteries sold by Phaser FPV carry a 7-day warranty from date of delivery.

Once you receive, you should immediately check the cells and notify us of any faulty so we can rectify the issue.

An acceptable voltage range of a newly purchased pack is 3.60-3.90v per cell for lipos and all cells should be within 0.05v of each other.

The reason warranty is so short is for several reasons. There are just too many variables in what could have happened to the batteries once they are used. Some include:

  • We can't be sure how fast it has been discharged
  • We can't be sure how low the battery was discharged
  • We can't be sure how fast the battery was recharged.
  • We can't be sure if they were paralleled incorrectly and another battery has caused the damage.
  • We can't be sure if one cell has had a slight hit that is not completely visible and that's the reason for the dropped cell/voltage being bad.

FPV Rules and Regulations

The use and operation of FPV radio equipment (such as UHF systems or video transmission equipment) may require a license and some countries may forbid its use entirely. As we sell internationally It is your responsibility to ensure that the use of products you purchase from Phaser FPV meet the requirements imposed by your government's rules and regulations for RF devices. Do not purchase products from Phaser FPV if you are unsure of the government requirements or are not able to comply with them. Phaser FPV cannot be held responsible for your actions under any circumstance, including but not limited to if you use products purchased from Phaser FPV in violation of your government's regulations.

Safety Information For Batteries, Chargers & Parallel Boards.

  • Read all safety warnings and instructions that are included with your battery before use.
  • Batteries should NEVER be left unattended while charging and always charged in a fire-retardant container like a Lipo Sack or Bat-Safe
  • If you have purchased any charging adaptors or parallel boards or any other charging accessory please check ONE battery at a time and make sure everything is working and no adapters/boards have any reverse polarity issues or manufacturing issues. We will not be liable for all your batteries if you plug them all in on brand new equipment without checking it first.
  • Keep a dry fire extinguisher nearby or a large bucket of dry sand, which is a cheap and effective extinguisher if something ever goes wrong.
  • Do not charge batteries near flammable items or liquids.
  • If your battery becomes "puffed" or damaged discard it asap as per next point.
  • Although environmentally friendly, lithium polymer cells must be FULLY discharged before disposal. Use a resistive load (light bulbs, for example) to accomplish this. If batteries are disposed while still partially charged they pose a potential fire hazard. Discharge damaged batteries at an acceptable rate and dispose of once all energy has been drained.
  • Be absolutely sure that the Lithium Polymer charger settings are correct for the battery pack being charged – both voltage and current settings.
  • Never charge or store batteries inside an automobile especially on a hot day or any other place where the temperature may exceed 140F / 60C.
  • KEEP BATTERIES AWAY from children and pets at ALL times.
  • Never discharge below 3.5V per cell as it may cause permanent damage and void warranty.
  • Batteries may explode if damaged or disposed of in fire
  • Do not put the loose cells in a pocket, bag, or drawer where they could short-circuit against other items, or the battery tabs could be pressed against each other.
  • Take care that the cells are not punctured, especially by metallic objects like hobby knives.
  • Always charge your batteries at 1C no matter what manufacturer specifications say. This will make sure you get the most life and performance out of your battery.
  • Never pick up or handle a LIPO battery if it has burst into flames or you will burn your skin. Use the SAND, extinguisher as in previous points or by other means necessary.
  • If the electrolyte in the cells should get on your skin, thoroughly wash with soap and water. If in the eyes, rinse thoroughly with cool water. Immediately seek medical attention for this, or for burns.

Charging & Other Battery Information

GOLDEN RULE 1

ALWAYS be nearby when charging, DO NOT leave the house or leave unattended. It is recommended that you also charge inside a LIPO bag or have a portable fire extinguisher.
If you do not listen to rule number 1. Your house may catch fire. This happened only last week to a guy in Australia. The battery was 6 months old. Inspect your  batteries before charging, looking for tears, deformations or swollen packs. Also check cell voltages to make sure that they are reasonably close and that all balance lead connections are undamaged and functioning correctly.

GOLDEN RULE 2

Always BALANCE Charge. Do not use charge or fast charge. ONLY BALANCE CHARGE
GOLDEN RULE 3

If the battery becomes punctured/cut or “puffs” Discard it, do not charge!

Charging

Here is an example battery

1300mah 4s 65c – It also has the following specs from Manufacturer

Capacity(mAh) 1300
Config (s) 4
Discharge (c) 65
Weight (g) 176
Max Charge Rate (C) 10
Length-A(mm) 75
Height-B(mm) 35
Width-C(mm) 36

1300mah = How much power this battery stores – Generally the more power, the bigger and heavier the battery.
4s = How many cells. Each cell full charged is 4.2V . A 4s (four cells) is a battery with 4 cells in series, meaning that the voltage is additive. When fully charged a 4s battery will measure 16.80 volts as a sum total of the 4 cells, each being 4.2v when full.
65C = How much current battery is capable of delivering. In this example, it would be 65×1.3 = 84.5 Amps (constant discharge).
However most manufacturers are very creative with their numbers, its generally just best to use it as a guide on how good the cell is / how good resitiance/quality is.
Max Charge Rate (C) = The Max Charge Rate

On all batteries  we recommend you charge at 1C – This means you charge at 1300*0.001 = 1.3 Amps
If you are charging at 1C, it will take approximately 1 hour to complete the charge. 2C, it will take 30mins. Etc.

Some batteries (like above) have a max charge rate of 10C, so theoretically you could charge at 1300*0.001*10 = 13 Amps!

FAQ

What voltage should I not go below to protect my batteries?

Voltage should never go below 3.5v when at rest. Once you go under 3.3v damage has been done and your cells will never be the same. Note that this is per cell. You can monitor this on your OSD or you can simply multiply your cell number by 3.5 to find the total voltage for low voltage cutoff. On a 4 cell it would be 3.5v x 4 = 14.0v.

When should I put my battery into storage?

If you aren’t using your batteries for 7 days or more, you should put lipos into storage voltage to ensure they last.

Each cell should be 3.8-3.85v each for storage. Most chargers will discharge or charge to storage voltage automatically for you.

Again, make sure your lipos are in a safe storage area in can it goes up in flames.
